I love how so many fanboys love it when Apple makes money from expensive products. When your company rips you off you don't turn around and say good job keep it up. Why do you get mad a gas companies for charging you to much but not Apple.

I suspect that there are a couple of reasons for the change.
1 - there's a huge spike in sales with the release of any iOS device, having the iPad in the first half of the year and the iPhone in the second half of the year better levels the demand, the time required by the Apple team, and better levels traffic patterns in the stores.
2 - The iPod is becoming less and less important to Apple. Every iPhone includes and iPod, every iPad includes an iPod. In the past year we've seen something like a 17% decrease in sales of the iPod, with over 50% of them being the iPod Touch. The iPod classic is on it's last legs, the shuffle is the only click wheel iPod left, and a 2GB iPod Nano would be a compelling option, and then Apple is done with the traditional click wheels, and just have touch screen iPods across the board, with the "ultimate iPod" being the iPhone - all updated in September.

How in the world would $20 a YEAR be too much? You are talking about streaming music from a company that goes to great lengths NOT to sell your information to others. If you're too cheap for that, then use free Pandora and have your whole life story sold off to people for god knows what. :mad:

It will suck like all Microsoft products except for the MS Mouse that is good.
MS Natural Keyboard is also good.

Apple mouse is beautiful and using one is not very stressful for your hand. Scroll ball in the Mighty Mouse is the best I've used and there's no comparison.
The only bad Apple mice were the hockey pucks.

Having worked very closely with the head engineers of AT&T, I do feel sorry for them. As someone stated earlier, that are spending billions to upgrade the network, but all that money will only meet current demand in some areas. The iPhone is such an incredible success that AT&T never had a chance. The same would be said about Verizon had they got the exclusive contract. If you want to lay the blame at anyones feet, it should be Apple. They should have made a CDMA version and split the load between the networks.
So, ATT saying they are building up their network is really just a PR bandaid? That fits my experience with the company.

These are all random/nonsensical figures you've made up FX4568. Outside of gaming, there are prescious few apps that will be affected by a 30% decrease in GPU.
This will be even more true as Apple becomes better at optimising for Grand Central dispatch (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Central_Dispatch). As an example the new Final Cut Pro X is said to optimise and scale well across all sizes of systems. I'd expect a much faster processor to 'soak up' the GPU drop in this instance.

GDP can be summarized as "GCD lifts the programmer from the burden of dealing with shared memory, threads, locks and semaphores which usually results in a great amount of pain." GCD does not direct GPU burden into the CPU. If it did, why doesnt Apple further continue on this technology? Wouldn't it be more efficient to Apple to develop this technology so far that GPUs are obsolete and instead of placing GPUs in a system, they could use extra battery? or extra RAM? GDP only takes advantage of multi core systems, but it certainly does not take the burden of GPU.
If it does, I would honestly like to know, as knowledge is always good.

Probably gonna hit Spectrum in the morning (its on my way to work).
I stopped by there three times today and got three different answers. 1 said come tomorrow at 9am; another said call first we don't get shipments until mid morning and the third dude said we never know when a shipment is coming in and I don't know who told you to stand in line tomorrow...
Regardless, I'll get there early and see what happens...

Question: for those of you reserving at Best Buys, how do you know "where" you really are on the list? Reserve in person or on the phone?

So the two values are:
138.8 +/- 11.8

So the error bars are large enough that we can't say for sure.

Of course I read the damn thing. Is it not clear from the report that the invention really is the proximity detector. Synaptics or whatever they are called already have advanced touch devices on the market, thats nothing new. Maybe the software side of things, ie. how to interpert the inputs is novel but really its the ability to "remote control" your ipod without anything but your bare hands.

Yes, BootCamp uses the hardware natively, so that means dual-core support. As to whether you should use bootcamp or Parallels... Well I guess that ultimatly depends on what you need windows for... 3D games or REALLY CPU untensive App? Go for bootcamp. Otherwise, parallels does the trick nicely and doesn't require you to reboot (a BIG bonus for me...)

Aside from the whole "personal responsibility" debate, why doesn't Apple just allow cancel/refund of purchases as long as it is done before the download is finished (meaning it's impossible to use)?

Also Its early and Im not thiinking too clear..but you can go to your ACCOUNT and authorize whichever device you wanna allow to use your purchases. Of course I dont think this will help if you set up a new account for a gift, but you can GIVE apps to others. I apologize if my somnambulism has misread your intent. WOuldnt be the first time.
